This day school, hosted by Wessex Archaeology at Old Sarum Park near Salisbury, will focus on the discovery and archaeological contexts in which human remains can be found, the initial ageing and sexing of human remains and aspects of physical anthropology, pathology and mortuary rites. There will be a hands-on demonstration of how a formal assessment is conducted and a chance to practise your knowledge of the arrangement of the human skeleton using excavated human remains.
This a useful guide in becoming familiar with human material recovered from site and its treatment.
We recommend you bring a packed lunch. Tea and coffee will be provided.
